Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American-British sitarist and musician. She won the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and the first female to receive it. Alongside the nine Grammy awards She was also the very first Indian-origin musician to present at and perform at the award ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, one of the Indian young sitar star. She is a scholar and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing back and forth from London to New Delhi. When she arrived in New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years of age. Later she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful performing and recording careers, even though she's only a teenager. She is often seen performing alongside her father and has done so for quite a number of years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was titled the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year following. She has appeared at many famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka's career does not only involve music. Bapi The Love of My Life is a illustrated biographical work she penned in 2002. It pays special tributes to her father who died in the year 2000. Ravi Shankar. She also acted on the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shakar's professional career is only going to continue to expand and expand. We are looking for exciting different things that she does. Anoushka was born in England and spent a lot of her youth split between London as well as Delhi. She then moved to California and attended the high school there. When she was 9, she started studying the piano with her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar was during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka performed with her father throughout his global tour, gained an impressive quantity of knowledge. When she was in her teens, she appeared at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. The youngest female to win the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament as recognition of her talent and musicianship in the Asian Arts.
